The author wearing a “Mad Hatter Hat.” Alan is always up for having fun, and this shows in The Monster on Top of the Bed

Thank you for visiting this web page.  I realize that your time is valuable, and I appreciate your investing your  time reading this material.  Yes, It’s a rather lengthy page.  Please take a few moments to scan it and then come back to read the areas that most interesting to you.  Yes, I’ve written a long page because everything on it is relevant to some people, but I have no way of knowing what parts are most important to you.

By way of introduction, my
name is Alan H. Jordan. I’m an author and I also am a principal in LB Creative, LLC Press, a small publishing
company thatOnce people purchase one book from you and like it, they naturally want to buy more. Think about your favorite author. How many of his or her books have you eagerly purchased? com petes by selling books, e-books, audio books (CDs and .mp3 files) and physical bookmarks that convey your story.

The back cover (or an audio message) motivates people to buy the
book.   The back cover (or audio message or bookmark) also encourages
other donations to your cause, long after the fund raising drive is
over.

This campaign can also be combined with a book fair.

You Need to Read this Material Because it Offers a Solution Other Than Tightening Your Belt.

These are 3 clips from newscasts that are excerpted under the Fair
Use Doctrine of Copyright law. Watch them! It only takes 38 seconds.  I’m betting you’ll want to read on because you will prefer to find an an enjoyable solution to the current budget crisis.

Yes, I know you’ve seen clips like these before.

Yes, it’s normal to think that the only way to get through a crisis is to cut your budgets and weather the storm.

Yes,
it’s also possible to take a different approach.  Think about a person whose
pay has been cut.  That person has two options.  The first is to reduce
the quality of their life, and cut back.  The second is to supplement
their income with a second job.

Don’t Make the Mistake of Feeling That You are Powerless

Unlike an individual, as a member of a school, library or non-profit, you have many people who can help you to prosper. Of course, you can decide to reduce the quality of education (or your services) and cut
back (which often means laying off people) or you can do something to
raise funds.

If you were down and out, would your mother tell you to throw in the towel without trying, or would she encourage you to  try a creative solution.  I can hear my mother now, “If you don’t try, you don’t get,” she would say, “You can turn this around.  You might even be happy this happened.”

If you’re thinking “Yes, I can imagine my mother saying that too,” please continue to read about an enjoyable fund raising solution that you
can use in place of, or in conjunction with, other fund raisers.  Please do this because you are likely to discover that you do not have to tighten your belt as much as you thought, or maybe not at all.

If you were taking a second job, wouldn’t you
want it to be enjoyable?  If you’re an organization that’s raising
money, wouldn’t you want your fund raiser to be enjoyable?

Why You Can Raise $10,000+

I’ve assembled a team of people who are committed to helping organizations, schools and libraries prosper despite the current economic environment.  These include specialists in web design, public relations experts, marketing people and more.

We Work with You to Assure Your Success!

We provide you with a wide variety of customized assets that will help you to raise funds.  Before we design these tools, we have a detailed conversation with you to learn
about your objectives and the things that you do to motivate people to
support you.  If you went to an advertising agency to get these assets, you’d easily spend over $1,000, and you’d have to pay them whether or not the campaign worked.  But, I’m not just selling ideas.  I’m selling books, and if you buy 1,000 to 10,000 books, I can make some money from that.  That’s why we provide a set of tools that will empower you to sell lots of book.  Some of the tools we provide include:

  • A web page on our server that accepts orders and sends the money directly to you.  (An ad agency would charge at least $200 for this.)
  • Press releases to help you get orders through newspaper and magazine articles. (An ad agency would charge at least $500 for this.)
  • Media press releases that will get free advertising on TV and Radio. (An ad agency would charge at least $200 extra for each media release.)
  • email can help you raise tens of thousands of dollars. Imagine each of your members sending out five or ten personal emails to their contacts.Customized instructions on how to set up a unique e-mail campaign that will bring in money; e-mail can help you raise tens of thousands of dollars. (A consulting firm would charge you $500 for this.) Imagine hundreds of people who you don’t even know sending out five or ten personal emails to their contacts. We will help you to write the e-mail appeals and show you how you can motivate people to help you, even if they don’t know you.  It’s simple, if they believe in your cause.
  • Customized instructions on how to set up a telephone conference that will bring in more orders from people you don’t know. You could easily spend weeks trying to find the solution that we suggest, a solution that uses a million-dollar conference bridge, at no cost to you.
  • Customized instructions on how to motivate bloggers to write articles about your campaign.  One thing is for certain:  Somewhere there are bloggers who are interested in what you are doing, and they will help you to succeed–if you know how to find them, and you show them why what you are doing is consistent with their objectives and goals. (An ad agency would charge you at least $500-$1,000 to put you in touch with 10 to 15 well-known bloggers who write articles about you.
  • Ways to motivate local celebrities to endorse your fund raising campaigns.  (An ad agency would charge $200 to $500 to help you set this up.)
  • In some instances, introductions to national and international celebrities who are willing to support your cause. Honestly, unless you have connections, you probably can’t buy this at any price.  I can make these introductions because I am interviewing celebrities for my forthcoming book Celebrity Magic: Celebrities, Their Causes and the Magic that they Weave. For example, I’ve recently interviewed Ian Anderson of the Jethro Tull Band and Nick Chavez, of Nick Chavez Beverly Hills as well as a number of regional celebrities. Bring up the Celebrity Magic web site in a separate window.

Affirmations are popular with all age groups, and are available as an e-book, audio book or printed book. You can allow people to hear exclusive interviews with celebrities, or other audio books. Transcripts are also available. You don’t have to invest any money up front to determine if this opportunity makes sense for you.  Read the executive summaries for details.

This page focuses on a children’s book, The Monster on Top of the Bed, but other options are also available. These include Reaching Out, a book of poetry written to artwork to which teenagers relate and Personal Success Through Self Motivation, I Feel Thankful and other Feel Good Words, and a series of interviews with celebrities that are available for purchase before my forthcoming book, Celebrity Magic is published in 2013.

Executive Summary For Non-Profit Organizations

Non-profit organizations tell me that the main problems they encounter raising funds are:

  1. Their members experience fund raising fatigue. (Members get tired of working at fund raising.)
  2. They have no way to make money after the fund raiser ends.  (Once the event is over, or the cookies, popcorn or candy is sold, that’s it.  No more money comes it.)
  3. It takes a lot of work to put together a major fundraiser.  (For example, a church rummage sale takes months of planning, and usually involves 30 to 50 people working intensely for two or three days, and you have to get rid of the excessive stuff.)
  4. Laying out large sums of money to make money is inconvenient, sometimes prohibitive.
  5. It sad when bad weather causes an event to have poor attendance.
  6. It’s difficult to get friends and family from other parts of the county to participate.
  7. Fund raisers rarely help to set the stage for the next fund raiser.
  8. “We don’t want to do door-to-door selling. In some areas it’s just not safe.”People who won't buy a book might be interested in helping you raise money with a bookmark, popcorn, candy or cookies.
  9. We need to be able to sell a fall back product to people who don’t want to buy the other product we sell.

A Solution that Resolves Each of these Concerns

The Enjoyable Fund raising program described below resolves each of these concerns.  If you find that these concerns strike home with you, we offer to build you you a customized web page that you can use immediately to raise $10,000 or more. Here’s how it works:

  1. You call (775) 453-6636 and describe your objectives, Or use this contact page, and we’ll contact you.  (Don’t forget to include your phone number if you want us to call you.)
  2. If we can help, we will ask you to pay $7 to demonstrate your interest and we will prepare the first draft of a web page that you can use to raise funds. (See below for an example of the content that might be in the page.)  No one can see it but you until you approve it. Click here to see what happens if someone comes to the page before it is made public.
  3. If you decide you want to continue to explore the idea, you pay us $97.00 to demonstrate that you are seriously interested in raising funds  We then work with you to refine the offering, and we make the web page public.  You then tell the world about it, and we help you with a wide variety of customized assets, some of which are described at the top of this web page. The internet is a big place, and we can show you how to get people to use it to help you raise funds.
  4. You then use the web page to take orders for a book that has a back cover that is customized to discuss your cause.  The back cover can also make an appeal for donations, and because it is on the back of a book that will be read many times, and passed from person to person, you may receive donations for years to come.  (The money can go to you, or to us, whichever is better for your needs.)
  5. When you have accumulated enough orders, you place an order for the book.
  6. You should sell at least 1,000 books, and make $10.00 each.  That’s $10,000.00, or more.  Plus, you can raise additional funds with the digital products like audio books and e-books.

An Example of Part of Your Web Page

[This graphic represents a button.  In the real website, an order button would be here.  Also, there will be a reference to an easy-to-remember web page. When someone clicks the button and places an order, the money goes to you. (If you prefer, the money can go to us, or to a bank lock box.)

A Call to Action

We are not exaggerating when we say it is easy to sell 1,000 or more books, but experience shows that you won't believe any claims we make on a web page.  You need to speak with someone who will address your concerns.

To be perfectly honest, we are interested in your selling 5,000 or more books, and we'll do everything we can to make that happen.

To learn more about why you'll sell that many books, pick up the phone and call (775) 453-6636 and schedule a phone call where you will have an opportunity to talk about your fund raising objectives and raise any concerns you may have. Or use this contact page, and we'll contact you.  (Don't forget to include your phone number if you want us to call you.)

Executive Summary For Schools & Libraries

Before you read anything else, consider this. If you wish, you can take advantage of the same offer that we make to non-profit organizations, above.  In other words, you don't have to spend a penny to explore whether this idea will work for you. Or, since it is likely that some of your children will want to become familiar with the book before they (or their parents) start to sell it, you can spend either $30 or $97 to get just what you need to start raising money right away.

This easy-to-implement fund raising solution takes the well-known, successful model of a book fair to the next level.   Simply purchase a special
enjoyable fund raising starter kit with a value of several hundred dollars (see below) for only $97. Another choice is to order a value bundle ($30) without customizing the back cover. After you get the book and other material, call me on (775) 453-6636, to review your needs.

The enjoyable fund raising starter kit makes it easy:

  • For parents, children, teachers (and their friends and family) to take orders for a book that has a customized
back cover. (The book is fully described later on this page.)
  • To accept orders through a customized web page, which people visit after they hear about the fund raising drive through:
    • A press release (which we help you to prepare)
    • A public service announcement (which we help you to prepare)
    • A phone call or e-mail from a student, parent, or teacher (which we help you to draft)
    • A service club that helps you to reach out to the community
    • A variety of other ways that will be presented in a customized fund raising plan.

Customized Back Covers Make a Huge Difference

In a book fair, you sell books.  Here the focus is on one book at a time, with follow up orders that naturally occur when people want to buy a sequel. Customizing the back cover of the book allows you to:

  1. Making a convincing argument for the purpose of your fund raising effort;
  2. Asks people to support you; and
  3. Provide ways for people to make donations and buy additional copies long after the fund raising drive is concluded.

As an example,
the book in the Bundle I picture has been customized to discuss the needs for a new nurses' office in the school.

Unlike many fundraisers, you are not left alone

We create a customized enjoyable fund raising plan for each starter kit order.  We will work with you to achieve your goals.  We want you to tell other schools, libraries,
churches and non-profit organizations about your results, so that
they will raise funds using our services too.

If you're ready to make a difference in the lives of many students, click Continue to Checkout, below, to invest a tax-deductible $97 to help your school, library or church raise money.
If you're not ready yet, request a free copy of the PowerPoint show
that I present that explains the seven (7)  main problems with fund raising,
and shows how to overcome them. Also, get an invitation to a free
monthly teleconference where you can get solutions from your peers.

It's not a once-and-done arrangement

There are follow-up campaigns that use sponsored-marketing
books, some of which are for young children, tweens, teens,
young adults and ages 35+. This enables you to raise many
thousands of dollars in a year.

A Web-Based Campaign Takes (6) Weeks

  • One week to speak with you and determine how we will customize the
back cover of your 3 copies of the book.  (Cumulative:  1 week)
  • Three weeks weeks for you to everything included in your starter
kit, and for us to set up a special web page for you to accept orders.
Some information and products will arrive more quickly than others.
    (Cumulative 4 weeks.)
  • Two weeks for you to tell people about the fund raiser by:
    • Sending e-mails
    • Making phone calls
    • Obtaining Public Service Announcement spots using the materials in the enjoyable fundraising starter kit
    • Obtaining newspaper coverage, using the materials in the enjoyable fundraising starter kit
    • Giving out flyers and business-card-sized announcements

Web + Personal Contact Takes Eight (8) Weeks

A full campaign (web-based. as above, PLUS direct contact by children and parents) does take eight weeks to raise the money because it also takes
about:

  • A week to tell children, teachers and their parents about the kit and distribute sample copies
and order forms. (Cumulative: 6 weeks)
  • A week for children and parents to start selling the book (and possibly some candy, popcorn, cookies,
etc. along with it) (Cumulative: 7 weeks)
  • A second week before they children return the order forms along with the money. (Cumulative: 8 weeks)

Click here to request a press release that you can use to take orders before you buy the book.

An Enjoyable Solution

Here’s a 24-second video submitted by a young reader of which I’m particularly proud:

A 1-minute Video by a student teacher – Mia

I appreciate the effort Mia put into this video, along with what she has to say…

You can also visit the book’s website to read many other reviews.

“$10,000 to $200,000. Too Good to be True?”

If you feel that way, I understand. What you probably need to help you realize the value of this is detailed
information that explains the seven (7) main problems with school fund raising, and the solutions to those problems.
I’ve made a PowerPoint show that explains in detail, and you can download it, along with the notes that I say.

Request a free copy of the PowerPoint show that I present that explains the seven (7) main problems with fund raising, and shows how to overcome them. Also, get an invitation to
a free monthly teleconference where you can get solutions from your peers.

Calculate How Much Money You Will Raise

The book costs $10. You sell it for $20. (Or, you could sell it for less if you want). You make $10 on each book sold, and $10 on book orders that come in after the sale is concluded.  We can even show you ways to to be able to award scholarships to people who cannot afford them, and still make $10 per sale.  Request details.

  • Number of children (and/and their parents) _______ (a)
  • x Number of books each one sells _________ (b)
  • = Total number of books sold____________ (c)
  • x Profit per book $10 suggested __________ (d)
  • = Amount of money that you raise _____________ (e)

There are some extra costs, like the cost of shipping and handling, but selling the candy and popcorn produces
more than enough extra money to pay for them, PLUS you can make extra money selling the candy, popcorn,
etc. to people who don’t have anyone they who can use the book.

NOW, MULTIPLY THE AMOUNT OF MONEY IN (e) by the number of schools participating.

_________ (e) x # of schools _______ (f) = $___________

For example: In (e) the calculations show that when 300 students/parents in one school sell 3 books each, you raise $10,000. (300 x 3 =  900 books + 100 books as a result of publicity = 1,000 books x $10 = $10,000)

If 12 schools in a district take part in the fund raising, multiply the $10,000 x 12 to calculate total fund raising for this campaign of $120,000. That’s serious money. Perhaps you can use that money to preclude prevent
losing several positions.

Request a spreadsheet so you can do the calculations at your leisure.

Or, if you’re ready to make a difference in the lives of many students, click Continue to Checkout, below, to invest a tax-deductible $97 to help your school or library raise money.

Option 1: Get Hundreds of Dollars of Value for $97 with a Starter Kit

The $97 is tax-deductible if you give the starter kit to a school, library or non-profit organization.
I’ve put together a special starter kit that will enable you to see for yourself. You receive hundreds of dollars
of value for $97:

  • Customization of the back cover so that it describes the purpose of your fund raising event. The back cover can include pictures, an address where people can send
additional contributions or place additional orders, a web page that
allows people to place additional orders or contributions.   Someone contacts you, to learn your goals.  We suggest wording and a layout.  If you like the suggestions, we send you a proof. We make up to three sets of changes before printing to the book.  (Value $200)
  • 2 copies of the full-size book that you can use as samples to take orders.  (Value $40)
  • A web page that explains the purpose of your fund raiser, and accepts orders.  (Value $100)
  • 1 copy of the CD (and small booklet) that reads the story (page-by-page, with turn-the-page sounds)
in English, Spanish and Italian (Value $20).
The back of the CD case, annotated to show some of the many features of The Monster on Top of the Bed
  • 1 copy of an e-book that can be projected in a classroom wall or screen (Value $10)
  • 1 .pdf file to print order forms that children and their parents can use to take orders when they show
a sample of the book (Value $5)
  • 3 .pdf files to print posters that can be used to publicize the fund raising event (Value $15)
  • 1 press release that can be adapted to help you get orders through newspaper and magazine articles.
    (Value $97)
  • 1 media press release that can help you to get free advertising on TV and Radio (Value $100)
  • Instructions on how to set up a telephone conference that will bring in more orders from people you don’t know.
  • Personal discussion about how to take advantage of all of these assets. (Value $100)
The Monster on Top of the Bed comes in a wide variety of editions that will help you to raise funds.

$10,000 is not enough to pay for a teacher’s salary.

Maybe it won’t be enough, but it’s enough to pay for supplies,
or to keep a part-time teacher that you’d have to let go. You can
also raise money in two ways–sell more than five books per student
or parent, or run the program in several schools. With ten schools
you can raise $200,000 in six to eight weeks. (It takes about two
weeks to set up everything you need to coordinate a multi-school
effort.) With ten schools PLUS publicity in the newspapers, radio
and TV, you can raise $250,000 because you’ll get orders from people
who would never normally buy anything in school fund raiser.

It’s not easy for me to get $97 to buy a Starter Kit.

A. Take orders before you make the purchase, like people do when they order Girl Scout cookies.
To convince people to buy:

B. Show this page to several people. Perhaps three, four or five people
can pool their resources to buy a kit.
C. Download the .mp3 files from our Listen page, and play them for children and adults. When they get excited about using the book as a fund raiser, buy the start up kit. (Note: You’ll have to become a
member first, but membership is free.)
D. Write to alan@monbed.com, and explain your situation. Inquire as to
whether you qualify for a scholarship.
We recommend that you sign up to receive the free information which includes an invitation to
a free monthly teleconference.

I don’t think kids should go door-to-door selling.

They don’t need to do that. They can put up tables in supermarkets, malls, etc. They can talk to
relatives on the phone. They can send out e-mails with you. They can go to meetings of service
clubs, they can ask restaurants to put the book up for sale.  If they are talking to a friend or relative, they can ask them to visit a web page that we set up special for you, and place their orders. There are many ways to sell the book.

I do not have any money to spend and, I need to raise money immediately.

Instead of taking $97 out of your pocket, print out this page and take it to a meeting of a service
club that helps children as part of its purpose, like Rotary, Kiwanis or Soroptimists.Or, contact a foundation, like the Milken Family Foundation. Ask them to help you underwrite
the purchase of 10, 100 or 1,000 books. (The hyperlinks will take you to a page on the service
club’s where you can search for a nearby club.)

Option 2: Buy 100 or More Customized Books
and Raise Money Rapidly!

If you have some money to invest, and you need to raise money immediately, you are better off buying copies
of the book that include information about your cause than simply buying a starter kit. By taking advantage of one of
the existing bundles you’ll receive books plus a variety of tools to help you become immediately successful.

  • One week for you to receive the starter kit, plus the other information that we send you.
  • A week for you to go over all of the information in the kit, and tell others about it (Cumulative: 2 weeks)
  • A week to set up a special video and web site; inform the press; tell children, teachers and their parents about the books and give them distribute sample copies and order forms. (Cumulative: 3 weeks)
  • With this system you can take orders over the web, immediately, so you can start to raise funds before the customized books are delivered, which will probably be in week three or four.
  • Once you deliver the books, you can expect additional orders
from friends and family of those who have placed and order
    and love the book.

Visit our bundles page to place an immediate order.

Children’s books are not an appropriate fund raiser for my school.

If you’re trying to raise money for a college or a high school where students are unlikely to get excited
about a children’s book inquire about one of the other books that we publish that can be customized by writing
to alan@monbed.com

I don’t think we can sell a book for $20.

You probably can sell this book for $20, but you know the people to whom you’re selling, and it’s
okay to charge less than $20. If you charge $15 a book, you’re still making $5.00 on each sale,
and that can add up fast.

I have doubts. I need to talk this over with other people before I act.

If you have doubts, or simply believe that this is too good to be true, then request
the free information, which includes an invitation to participate in a
free monthly teleconference with your peers to obtain solutions
. You can also call me at (775) 453-6636 to discuss your doubts.
If you’re ready to proceed, click the Continue to Checkout image, below, and invest a
tax-deductible $97 to help your school or library raise money
, enjoy the process and help
children to get excited about reading, writing and drawing.
Continue to checkout for the starter kit that can help you raise tens of thousands of dollars.

Make a good investment!

Read the review written by Sandie Lee in ‘Imagination Cafe’. Here is a video that she prepared and posted on YouTube.

Here’s a quote from the well known blog 2 Wired 2 Tired:

Without giving away too many details, the story is a classic heart-warming monster-under-the-bed
start with a fresh perspective of the monster fearing a child and a silly misunderstanding of the dietary habits of main character Suzy. It ends with a new friendship.

The book was good and that is not an understatement. There is nothing like a good book, but it was the sillyness of the monster’s interpretation of Suzy and the illustration that really makes the book a winner!

The graphics are great! Bold colors reminiscent of Pixar’s Monsters Inc. I also have to give the authorprops for adding free downloaded recorded readings of the book with multi-lingual capacity that can
even go on your iPod!

From a parent:

Last weekend, I had occasion to drive home four rowdy children, ages 5 to 10. One of them found
the CD to The Monster on Top of the Bed and asked me to play it. Another one found the book and
turned the pages for the others. For the next 15 minutes, I had four rapt children in my car as the
CD played twice. Any story that captures the attention of these four kids is definitely very good.

- Sharon Wood, parent
From a teacher:

I like the fact that Karrit’s smaller than Suzy, and I love the monster’s eyes. You can’t tell if the
monster is Asian, Eurasian, or American, and I like the ponytail. Every boy and every girl can
identify with Karrit.

- Belinda Chua, S. F. Bay Area
From Bloggers:

The Monster on Top of the Bed … is sure to become a new bedtime classic. All the components are
perfectly intertwined to make the story jump off its pages and come to life. And in fact it does,
